Well, you better flag it, bag it, tag it, wag it, and shag it!

Don’t lag it, gag it, nag it, sag it, rag it, or zag it!

The derby opens at dawn September 6 and runs until 6pm. The derby runs from dawn September 7 until 11:30am.  The Silva Bay Yacht Club will be serving food, and having music from 4:30 until 7pm on Saturday night on the deck at Silva Bay Marina. The prize ceremony will start on the deck at approximately 12:30pm, with pizza and t-shirts available around noon. We have about $24,000 in giveaways, prizes, and draws.

First prize for largest Chinook is a 9.9 Yamaha outboard donated by Parker Marine. Harbour Chandler has donated at $4,300 Simrad Chart plotter as the draw prize. We have two Scotty downriggers, a Brutus Line Hauler, rods and reels, and many more fantastic prizes. Come and join the fun!

Chinook fishing has been strong at the Flat Tops and Entrance. Depths range from 60 feet early and late, to 270 feet fishing the Trench in daylight. Lures of choice include T-Rex, Blue Meany, and white hoochies, spoons in Cookies and Cream and Killy MaGee, and various 5 inch Tomic plugs.

The Coho have been coming and going all month. Some days it’s easy, some days it’s hard. The Fingers, Entrance, and the Flat Tops are good spots to encounter the Coho. Small spoons like the Kripple K or 3 inch Killy MaGee are good choices for the Coho.

There are lots of Pinks around, and they are being caught incidentally while fishing for Chinook and Coho.

Prawning is medium to good-expect 75 per trap.

Good fishing!
