Gabriola’s “Buy Local” Booklet returns for 2025 with stronger community impact

The Gabriola Buy Local Coupon Booklet is back for 2025, bringing with it streamlined customer incentives and a powerful message: supporting local businesses strengthens the entire community.

Launched in 2024, the booklet was designed to encourage residents and visitors to shop locally by offering customers to use a wide range of Gabriola businesses. Now in its second year, the 2025 edition comes with several enhancements, including a cleaner design, lower advertising costs for businesses, and buy local message to the public.

With only 500 copies going to print, there will be limited quantity but offered free of charge to both locals and visitors, making it an accessible tool for those who wants to explore what Gabriola has to offer. Islanders are encouraged to use them to their full potential. Coupons will be valid through October 31, 2025.

“There’s real economic value in choosing local,” says Erin Udal, Executive Director of the Gabriola Island Chamber of Commerce. “Given the recent tariff changes and uncertainties, folks are understanding the true value of local purchasing power and adapting their spending behaviour more than ever.This is a great opportunity for businesses wanting to encourage new customers to give their business a try on Island, or as a way to say thank you back to the community. Overall it creates great social value for businesses to be part of a buy local campaign, and also boost sales.” Buy local has been shown to make economic impact. “For every dollar spent with a local business, 63 cents recirculates in the community, creating 4.6 times the economic impact compared to spending with multinationals.” (The Economic Impact of Local Businesses, LOCO BC, 2019)

The Gabriola Island Chamber of Commerce hopes the 2025 edition will encourage deeper community engagement and bring more visibility to Gabriola’s many independent businesses.
