The tradition of cleaning up Gabriola’s ditches, park trails, and other public spaces has had ups and downs over the past number of years.

When there was still a Ratepayers Association, there would be an annaul day for people to pick up trash, and leave the bags by the Lions bulletin boards for the Ratepayers to pick up.

But just becaue there isn’t a formal and organized system in place anymore, doesn’t mean we can’t take a little time on the roadways around our homes to tidy things up a bit.

There is definitely some detritus scattered under the salal and blackberries growing beside our roads.

And it doesn’t take up much space in the RDN trash cans. It takes up even less space if sorted when possible into green and blue bins.

Gabriola provides, and we can all take an hour, or two, to pick up what has been left alongside our roads.
