Gabriola Talks

Press Release

There’s a new excellent reason to vote in the upcoming provincial election in October: Gabriola is back to being included with downtown Nanaimo in new Nanaimo-Gabriola Island electoral district.

To help you understand the range of issues, and to give you an opportunity to find out where each candidate stands on the policies and concerns that are important to you, Gabriola Talks is hosting an all candidates meeting at the Gabriola Community Hall on Saturday September 28th from 2 until 4 pm.

The candidates for the three main parties, Sheila Malcolmson (NDP), Shirley Lambrecht (Green) and Dale Parker (Conservative) have confirmed that they will attend.

We will first hear briefly from each candidate and then there will be plenty of time for questions from the audience.

Attendees will be invited to submit their name to ask a question. Names will be pulled at random and those selected will have an opportunity to address a question to an individual candidate, or to all the candidates.

Moderator Talyn Martin will keep order and Katharine Patterson will keep time.

Questions must be short and to the point, and we also expect the conversation to be respectful so that the event is comfortable for all participants.

This is a non-partisan event. Please join us to hear what members of our community want to know and what the candidates have to say.

Gabriola Talks is an initiative of Sustainable Gabriola.
