Bill Beedie
Aug. 22, 1950 – Nov. 20, 2021
How do you say goodbye to a Prince? My husband, Bill Beedie, lost his fight with cancer on Saturday morning November 20th, 2021. Bill passed at home surrounded by his three daughters, grandkids and their partners.
Bill was the love of my life and we were just shy of 50 years of marriage. Some of you might know that Bill and I met whilst I was hitchhiking through Europe in the early 70s. Bill was on his way as an overland driver to Nepal when we met in Italy. I travelled all the way with him for about 6 months before returning to London, England, where we got married and started our family.
We immigrated in 1975 with our two young daughters, Donnya and Moya and later had our 3rd daughter Kalina. Bill loved his girls and this is what made him such a great man because he was always patient, kind and understanding with a house full of women!
Bill lived and worked as a mechanic in Nanaimo for over 30 years. He was very respected with his work as mechanic but decided it was time for a new business adventure and when the opportunity to open Gabriola Automotive presented itself, we made the move.
Gabriola Automotive was established in 2008 and we moved to Gabriola in 2010.
Bill loved Gabriola and I know that Gabriola loved Bill. Bill wanted to create a legacy with the shop and his motto was always, “Customers first and give honest and reliable service.” Bill always went out of his way to help people no matter where or what.
Bill and I talked about the future of Gabriola Automotive before his passing and we are pleased to say that it will be business as usual. We have incredible staff who have been invaluable during these past few months, so rest assured, you are in good hands.
I would like to thank each and every one for their outpourings of support and help. Your thoughts and kindness have given our family and I so much strength!
Life will never be the same again, but … Life is still good!
Sincerely,
~ Ilona Beedie and family
