Corporal Jordan Mullen

Detachment Commander, Gabriola RCMP

Gabriola RCMP received reports of two stolen electric assist bicycles, taken from the Gabriola Ferry terminal on in the overnight hours of November 17, 2021.

Both bikes were locked onto the racks however the locks were cut and the bikes were removed by unknown person(s).

Should you have information on these thefts, please contact the Gabriola RCMP at (250) 247-8333, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) or www.bccrimestoppers.com.

Gabriola RCMP reminds bicycle owners to record the serial number, make, model, colour and any unique parts on their bicycle, take several photos and keep this information safe at home.

It’s also a good idea to have your bicycle identified with your driver’s licence or phone number; this can be done with an engraver or other sharp tool.

If you must leave your bicycle unattended, use a high quality lock of case-hardened steel as poor quality locks can be cut in seconds.

However, leaving high value items like e-bikes even locked up well, can be too tempting for some thieves, therefore Gabriola RCMP recommends that cyclists store their bicycles in as secure an area as possible. Promptly report any theft of bicycle to Gabriola RCMP.
