Ted Brydges passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on October 13, 2021 at the age of 78.
Ted is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra, their 3 children Chris (Jennifer), Dan (Rachael), and Tanya (Bill), and several grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister Pamela, his mother Betty, and his father Norm, all of Guelph Ontario.
Ted was born on September 11, 1943 in Calgary, Alberta to Betty and Norm Brydges. He graduated from Hamilton Teacher’s College, Waterloo-Lutheran University, and the University of Ottawa with degrees in Education and Special Education. He married Sandra in 1969. After moving to Winchester Ontario, Ted began working for SD&G County Board of Education as a teacher and later as a school principal. Over 6 years the couple welcomed 3 children into their home. His children remember him as a kind & patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Ted was an accomplished educator working with both high-functioning and special needs children. He was a generous & dedicated individual who loved reading, pursuit of knowledge, and theology and who was passionate about educating students. He was an active and dedicated member of his Church and often volunteered at to participate in services and community outreach.
Due to COVID-19 a memorial will be scheduled for a later time.
Committal took place on October 22, 2021 at Gabriola Island Community Cemetery with Karen Hollis officiating the ceremony.
