Wolfe, Marlin David
On June 15th 2023 Marlin passed away at the age of 79. He was born in Gravelbourg SK and knew from a young age he wanted to be a musician. Marlin was accepted to the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London England and returned to Canada upon completion to start his career and a family. He is survived by his children Ray (Satara) Wolfe, Kieran (Tricia) Wolfe, Matt (Melissa) Wolfe and Averyl (Tim) Smatlan along with 10 grandchildren Oliver, Quinn, Griffin, Myles, Jonah, Hendrix, Symphony, Kevin, Jeremy and Violet as well as his two sisters Norma (David) Cooke and Sharon (Evan) Verchomin. Marlin was predeceased by his partner Margaret Lemieux. Maestro Wolfe was an accomplished musician and conductor having worked with the Edmonton and Vancouver Symphony Orchestras while ending this long career as the Musical Director of the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra in Nanaimo. Marlin traveled the world, conducting in many countries. At his cherished home on Gabriola Island he spent many hours on his other passions, woodworking and cooking. Marlin built many beautiful benches for the home gardens and exquisite bowls. He proudly made culinary dishes from all over the world for guests and his family. After his retirement he dedicated much time to writing a cookbook, which he self published and was very proud to display and discuss. Marlin will be missed by all who knew him, but mostly by his family. His grandchildren will fondly remember his jokes and love. A Celebration of Life open house will take place on Sat August 5th from 12-4pm at 93 Malaspina Dr on Gabriola Island. In lieu of flowers please contribute to any musical charity of your choice.
