Maureen Persin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Maureen Persin. Maureen passed away peacefully at the Nanaimo General Hospital on March 17th, 2024.
Maureen was born and raised in Preston England where at the age of 17 she met the love of her life Josef Persin. In 1965 along with their 4 children Maureen and Josef ventured to Canada where they started their journey in Brandon Manitoba, moving to Calgary, Victoria, Nanaimo and finally settling on Gabriola Island. For the past 35yrs Maureen has called Gabriola Island her home, a place that has filled her family’s hearts with wonderful and cherished memories.
Maureen’s greatest passion and pride was for her family. Sunday family dinners of roast beef and yorkshire pudding was her weekly tradition and her annual Christmas baking packages with her infamous rum balls was something her family and friends looked forward to each year.
Maureen is predeceased by her husband Jozef Persin and survived by her 4 children (Stuart, Anna, Diane and Joey) 8 Grand Children (Tamara, Graham, TJ, Nicki, Danielle, Nick, Kathleen and Michele), 7 Great Grand Children (Landen, Roland, Benson, Bodhi, Izzy, Cayden, Alex) and her brother Derek and sister Joan who still reside in England.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Maureen at her nieces home Melanie. The door will be open to all who wish to share in her memory. Sunday April 7th 1pm – 4pm, 1007 Harrison Way, Gabriola.
