Gabriola Museum

Press Release

After a three-year hiatus the Gabriola Museum brought its Trivia Night back last April. We had so much fun putting on the event we decided to do it again in November, the traditional date for Trivia Night.  What better way to share stories, have fun, make new friends, and laugh than at a Gabriola themed trivia event! From the Museum’s exhibits, Archives, and publications; to the Gabriola Sounder and our daily lives in the community – we have gathered trivia questions that are sure to tickle your brain. November 4, from 6:30pm to 9pm, at the Community Hall join us for Trivia Night. Invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Don’t think you know the answers? Test it out with our weekly Trivia question in the Sounder from October 4 to November 1. We will have a new question each week in the Sounder and will announce the answer in the following issue. Submit your answer each week to enter your name into a draw. Feeling competitive? Explore the Museum’s exhibits and peruse Museum and other local publications in the Museum’s collection to study up.

Trivia Night is one way the Gabriola Museum fulfills its mandate, ‘telling island stories’. It is also our biggest fundraiser of the year. We love doing what we do – sharing history and culture through exhibits, preserving history in our archives, creating publications, conducting bus tours, putting on events and programs. It is through the support of our members, donations and community participation in events like Trivia Night that we are able keep the Gabriola Museum’s doors open. Buying event tickets, memberships, bidding on auction items are great ways to support the Museum. We need your support! Recovery from the impact of Covid has been difficult and has caused financial uncertainties.

So, what do we want you to do? We want you to come and have fun. And the fun starts with our silent auction, October 21 to November 4. Gently used and new art pieces donated to the Museum for the silent auction will be on display at Nova Art Gallery. Looking for that unique piece to complete your space? An eclectic mix will be available for your consideration and our volunteers will be on site to say ‘Hi’.

On the night we will of course have an amazing live auction, raffles, delectable desserts (included in your ticket), and a cash bar.

Tickets for Trivia Night will be available in the coming weeks at the Museum, Nova, and online – keep an eye out for our ad. As usual we will be offering a discount on the price of a table (teams of six). Don’t have a team? We will match you up with some awesome friendly locals.

Come out for the trivia, come out for the desserts, come out for the conversation. Whatever your reason we hope you have fun.

Don’t forget to participate in the weekly trivia question in the printed version of the Sounder to get those brain cells competition ready.

Get in touch if you would like to donate pieces to the silent auction (info@gabriolamuseum.org), and we will see you at Trivia Night!
