North Road closed due to Gabriola fire truck going into ditch

UPDATE: Gabriola RCMP advise that as of 4pm on Feb. 7, North Road had been reopened to traffic.

A section of North Road on Gabriola is closed after one of the fire trucks from the Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department went into the ditch around 10am on Wednesday, Feb. 7. The single occupant of the truck was, according to RCMP on scene, not seriously injured.

Members with the GVFD are on scene. Crews from BC Hydro as well as a recovery vehicle are en route. Members of the public are being detoured around the scene by way of Seawind Drive and Cappon Lane.
