Richard Evan Werner Schultze

Rick passed away at home on Gabriola on September 11, 2021 at the age of 76 years.

He is survived by his wife Betty, his daughter Lana (Thomas), daughter Kristina (Matt), stepson Paul (Kristin) and stepdaughter Kristine (Chris) and nine grandchildren, Maia, Sebastian, Cole, Henry, Alex, James, Annie, Kate and Sofia.

Rick was born in Vernon, BC, and spent his childhood in Grandview Bench and Salmon Arm. After graduating from Simon Fraser University he worked for the BC Assessment Authority in Prince George and Cranbrook and then in Cranbook and Vancouver as a risk and property manager in the forest industry. After a couple of years building their home, Rick and Betty retired and moved permanently to Gabriola in 2004. Rick has been an active member of the Silva Bay Yacht Club, Christ Church Gabriola, the “Outlaws” brunch group, and the “Old Farts” coffee group at Mad Rona’s. He enjoyed discussing politics and world affairs.

There will be no memorial service. You are welcome to donate to a charity of your choice in remembrance of him. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tracey Thorne for her excellent care of Rick.
