Stuart Thomas Clendening

1945 – 2022

Stuart Thomas Clendening, age 76, of Surrey, BC passed away Wednesday, February 9th 2022 at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. He is survived by his wife, Heather Clendening; children Cameron (Jacqui) Clendening, Ian (Maggie) Clendening, Christina (Liam) O’Sullivan, & Jeff (Jamie) Lenz; brothers Alex (Allyson) Clendening & Craig (Jayne) Clendening; sister Cathie (Kevan) Migneault; dog Bobbi; nieces and nephews, cousins, and ten loving grandchildren (Cohen, Clive, Arlo, Kai, Connor, Mairi, Mack, Hunter, Jaimeson, Piper).

Stuart was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1945 to Tom and Muriel Clendening.  Stuart could be described as a charismatic man; full of energy and personality, eccentric, complex, highly intelligent, and lovable. He had many interests which he loved to share with those around him including antique cars, sailing, politics, and anything that can go on a barbeque. In addition to the love for his family and his dog Bobbi, Stuart loved reading books on history, politics, and automobiles and was seldom without a book on such topics. Stuart found comfort in the nature of his part-time residence on Gabriola Island where he could be found when not at his Surrey office or his other ‘residence’ at Starbucks on King George.

Stuart’s jovial nature touched many people who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family is kindly asking anyone interested to make donations to Pet Friends, Gabriola Island, BC.  Contact Penny Sidor at pens@shaw.ca or 1-250-247-7344.
